Lyle Alzado (April 3, 1949 to May 14, 1992)
was a key part of the Raider’s defense line He joined the team in the ‘82 and in ‘83 helped them go to the Super Bowl. He had an outstanding ‘84 season, but was injured in ’85, retiring at the end of the season. Outside of football, Lyle pursued an acting career in both movies and television. He was an amateur boxer, and once fought an exhibition match against Muhammad Ali. Lyle Alzado died at 43 of brain cancer brought on by excessive steroid use.
