Ronald Wilson Regan was the 40th President of the United States and the 33rd Governor of California. Born in Illinois, Reagan moved to Hollywood in the ‘30s, becoming an actor, President of the Screen Actors Guild, and spokesman for General Electric. Reagan switched to the Republican party in ‘62. After delivering a rousing speech in support of Barry Goldwater’s Presidential candidacy he was persuaded to seek the California Governorship, winning in ’66 and ‘70. He was elected President in 1980 and again in ‘84.
